Chemo Round 3 & A Golf Tournament!

Natalie completed her 3rd round of chemo last week and it went much better than the 2nd round.  She had tried to avoid a lot of her medications for chemo side effects during the 2nd round because they weren't sure what was causing the problems with her liver.  Since they determined the cause was one of the chemo drugs she was able to stay on top of her side effects this go around.  Overall she felt pretty good all week.... YAY!!!

Natalie and Stephen met with Dr. Khurshid and her breast surgeon yesterday.  First of all, her blood work looks great!  That is a huge praise!  After meeting with both of them they have decided to postpone her surgery until she has completed all six rounds of chemotherapy.  They are all in agreement that she has responded so well to treatment that they do not want to slow her down with a major surgery at this point.  As if chemotherapy and surgery are not hard enough to bounce back from in and of themselves, trying to deal with both simultaneously would have been extremely hard on her body!  Since she doesn't need to have it done immediately they are going wait a couple more months.

As of now, it looks like she will be wrapping up chemo at the end of May.  Surgery will be scheduled for a single mastectomy some time in June.  She will have radiation during the month of July and then surgery will be scheduled for the other mastectomy after that.  Natalie is really hoping to wrap up her surgeries and treatments by the end of 2012.  She would love to be able to start 2013 with a clean bill of health!

In non medical related news, thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored and volunteered at the golf tournament last weekend!  And a special thanks to Brandon for putting everything together.  The weather was perfect, we had a fantastic turn out and by all accounts, everyone had a great time.  We were thrilled that Natalie was feeling good because she was able to join us all day which made it extra special.  I know there are more pictures to come, but here are a few that I have from the day.
